Vanessa was involved in many projects during and after the No Angels era. She managed to do a lot on her own in a very short time. She found her love for voice dubbing and also as an actress through her late father, Thomas Petruo (13/04/2018). Thanks to her father, she started dubbing shows as a child to cure her lisp. Slowly Vany also found her acting skills and appeared in several series and films.
The best known were; German series, Good times and bad times. German version of Charles Angels; die wilde engel and in the film; "Wo ist Fred? Vanessa has also dubbed the classic Disney film; "Lilo and Stitch" and many more. She is also known for her beauty. Together with her sister she has modelled for Marco Tozzi. But also promoted the issues like, mental health and other issues. She has been involved in many projects such as Peta and Friends for Life.

In the early 2000s, she was occasionally seen on various TV shows, such as RTL's Rock Mania, Uri Geller and as a presenter on various german award shows such as MTV.
Vanessa's family was not only a big part of voice acting, but also to the music. Her mother had a bar in Berlin as the the Berlin Wall stood there. When she was a little girl, Vanessa had to help out her Mother and looked after her siblings. There was a small stage. She wished she could sing one day as a star, on a big stage Infront of many audiences. That's how she became interested in singing. At the age of 12, she invested money of her work as voice actress and gave her money for singing lessons. Soon, Anneliese was the star at the latina bar. Vanessa struggled with herself and her life since childhood. Singing and writing songs was a big part, to put her emotions and her creativity out. But the media field caught her interest during her adult life, which is why she started practicing in Viva. There, she met Bernd Klanke. He listened to her singing, which led to the formation of a duo band, called "Still". Since he worked in a record company, they have already recorded few songs. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. So they both went their own ways.
Her desire to stay in the media field, didn't stopped. By the end of the 90s, Vany had successfully completed her high school diploma and started studying journalism and participated in various internships such as MTV and N24.
In the fall of 2000, Vany and her sister wanted to go out and buy new jeans, but she heard on the radio an advertisement for Popstars Casting. She looked out of the window and saw that she was standing right in front of the hotel where the casting took place. She made a bet with herself. If there was a free parking space, she will take part in the audition and if there wasn't one, she wouldn't do it. She found a free parking space and took part. She had mastered every challenges and as if everything was a stroke of fate, she was one of the No Angels.
Life as a No Angel was something indescribable for Anneliese. Quote: "You can only understand this life if you have experienced it yourself". (From Vany, in the last Pro7 documentary).
The singing was good and the experiences with the fans and singing in front of the audience was something she loved. But, she felt overwhelmed by the rapid success of the band. No one could really understand what the winners of Popstars had to sacrifice and work for, in order to get their music out and stay in the music-market. There was no You Tube video, no documentary film that could provide information with pictures and also reveal the experiences of the stars.
The turmoil with various performances from early in the morning until late at night. The life in the spotlight and rumors gave no room for a breather and space for herself. She felt like, she couldn't develop her skills in to the music. So, in the first year, Vanessa announced to the crew, that she could no longer do it. The label came up with the idea of songwriting and composing, which appealed to Vanessa and was why she stayed till 2003.
The depression was still something that broke her. So, she spoke to Lucy about it. During this time, she always read books about psychology. She suffered a lot from the pressure of being a superstar.
But 2004 was her chance to work as a Solo artist. Vany was finally allowed to bring out her creativity into. songwriting, producing and composing. In the beginning, Vanessa was on top with her debut single "Dramaqueen". She was also seen in a music video for the latin boygroup, 3rd Wish, featuring Baby Bash.
The full-blown, latino, funky, blues music direction, that Vanessa went, was no longer a hit. Nevertheless, she was active in music as an independent singer and songwriter. She published many wonderful demos and put them online on myspace and sang cover songs, as well as her own songs at small events.
Slowly, Vany found her place into neuroscience and psychology. Vanessa developed immensely as she began her new path in Dresden first as a scholarship holder, than as a psychologist and to get her doctoral degree in southern California. She fulfill all her dreams and is still not finished.
