Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas was first nown from one of the best, Judy Garland.
Judy Garland almost didn't sing the song, because the original lyrics was at first very depressing. So with Judy's advice and Tom Drake's opinion, Hugh Martin reworte the song. from this lines; "Have yourself a merry little Christmas, It may be your last, Next year we may all be living in the past."
And with Sinatra's advice the line, "Mud" was also rewritten to the lyrics we know now.
The song was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane. Blane composed the song.
